The Winter Solstice occurs on December 22, 2011 at 12:30am EST (Dec 21st at 9:30pm PST). This is the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The Winter Solstice is celebrated by many people around the world as it marks the sun’s return. The days get progressively longer until the Summer Solstice in June. It’s a seasonal shift everyone notices.
Emotions may be easily identified between now and the New Moon, which occurs on Saturday December 24, 2011. With the power of the sun and moon minimized, it’s an opportune time to go within; acknowledging the shadow side, and transforming any negativity into light. It’s a quiet, contemplative time where we each can descend into seeing the true image of ourselves and make changes to shift light within.
As we are engrossed in darkness, take time to embrace whatever emotions are surfacing. Focus on creating loving relationships with yourself and others. You may be acutely aware of what emotions and darkness still needs to be resolved, so use meditation, prayer, and/or affirmations to transmute any lower vibrating emotions into higher ones such as love, peace, and joy. Also, ask the Universe to provide you with unconditional love, validation, and support as you transition through the last days of the year.
Do something special to honor this day and yourself; set intentions for the New Year, express gratitude, or disengage from any turmoil by turning it over to the Universe. Use the time of the Winter Solstice and New Moon to resolve the past and prepare for a fabulous New Year!
