Adding One Degree

At 211 degrees, water is hot.
At 212 degrees, water boils.
And with boiling water comes steam.
And with steam you can power a train.
One degree. Applying on extra degree of temperature to water means the difference between something that is simply very hot and something that generates enough force to power a machine – a beautifully uncomplicated metaphor that ideally could feed our every endeavor – consistently pushing us to make the extra effort in every task and action we undertake.
Emerson said, “All great masters are chiefly distinguished by the power of adding a second, third, and perhaps a fourth step in a continuous line. Many men have taken the first step. With each additional step you significantly enhance the value of your first!”
When we create something new we only see the first step or two. Once we take those steps new steps are revealed. “Go as far as you can see, when you get there you’ll see how to go farther.”
Often we miss opportunities to do more and create better results because we are unaware of the possibilities that could unfold if we applied a small amount of effort beyond the norm.
Vince Lombardi said, “Inches make champions.”
Imagine the potential results of investing an additional 15 minutes of quality time each day with your kids or spouse – that’s the equivalent of more than two weeks each year! Imagine adding an extra 15 minutes a day at anything you’re working on.
What small extra effort can you make today?

The Climb
Posted by Jana Groscost Matthews | Filed under Manifesting
Messages from Spirit come in many forms: movies, books, songs, strangers making a comment. I love the message in the lyrics of Miley Cyrus’s song “The Climb”. A message for all of us that the journey is more important than the destination.
The Climb
I can almost see it
That dream I’m dreaming
But there’s a voice inside my head saying
“You’ll never reach it”
Every step I’m taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking
But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high
There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna want to make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb
The struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I’m not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
And, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on
‘Cause, there’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna want to make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb!
Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It’s all about, it’s all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, yeah!
Questions to Ponder:
Do your dreams get squashed because of the voice in your head?
Do you focus on the journey or only the destination?
Do you lose faith when you hit obstacles?

Wealth & Health Tip: DNA
Posted by Jana Groscost Matthews | Filed under Healthy, Wealthy & Wise Tips, Manifesting, Transformation
Recently in the news there was a story about a woman in Tennessee who had adopted a child from Russia. After many years of raising the child she sent him back because she could no longer handle his anger and frustration. This action created a huge international uproar, but it isn’t an isolated case. I know of another family who also adopted a Russian child and has raised him for almost 12 years. He too has been more than a handful for the family and has created frustration and resentments. Although these people had good intentions in raising adopted children; providing a nurturing, loving environment isn’t the only criteria for a happy, healthy child. Most people overlook the impact that DNA plays on a person’s success: nature versus nurture.
Our DNA holds so much more information than the genetic coding for our eye and hair color, predisposition for certain dis-ease, and other physical attributes. Our DNA holds information from our ancestors including their unresolved feelings such as resentments, anger, and unforgiveness. In the Biblical verse, “The sins of the fathers shall be visited upon the sons a thousand times,” we are reminded that our life isn’t just about our actions, it’s also includes the actions and emotions of our ancestors.
As you look at your behavior and emotions can you see any correlation between them and those of your ancestors? Perhaps you’ve been told, “You act just like Grandpa” (Grandma, Aunt, Uncle, etc). Our ability to manifest better health, wealth, and relationships is impacted by our ability to overcome the patterns and emotions that have been transferred to us through our DNA.
Because the ancestral patterns, beliefs, and emotions are so ingrained within us, it can be a challenge to take a step back and overcome them. One of the biggest challenges to making change is overcoming the ego’s desire to maintain familiar patterns. The voice inside your head diligently works to keep you stuck in the past telling you, “Remember what happened last time you tried this?” “You know you can’t do that,” or whatever vicious verbal loop is caught in your head. The most powerful black magic we encounter is the voice within our head. It creates doubt and supports fears. Overcoming that voice requires a constant effort to stop the loop and create a new one.
Since so much of the verbiage in our head is automatic, simply bringing awareness to your thoughts and actions helps you shift them. Most often we need a support system that constructively and objectively provides feedback about the patterns and behavior.
In your heart you know you’re capable of so much more, yet without the tools to help you overcome the loop passed down through your DNA it is challenging to make lasting changes. So the patterns and behaviors get passed down generation after generation until someone finally decides to break the chains that bind them.
Do you want to be the one who stops the patterns? Join us for one of our group or one-on-one coaching sessions to learn the tools to make sustainable changes. Where will your life lead you if you could remove your ancestral barriers?
