The Train of Life

The Train of Life
Some folks ride the train of life
Looking out the rear,
Watching miles of life roll by,
And marking every year.
They sit in sad remembrance,
Of wasted days gone by,
And curse their life for what it was,
And hang their head and cry.
But I don’t concern myself with that,
I took a different vent,
I look forward to what life holds,
And not what has been spent.
So strap me to the engine,
As securely as I can be,
I want to be out on the front,
To see what I can see.
I want to feel the winds of change,
Blowing in my face,
I want to see what life unfolds,
As I move from place to place.
I want to see what’s coming up,
Not looking at the past,
Life’s too short for yesterdays,
It moves along too fast.
So if the ride gets bumpy,
While you are looking back,
Go up front, and you may find,
Your life has jumped the track.
It’s all right to remember,
That’s part of history,
But up front’s where it’s happening,
There’s so much mystery.
The enjoyment of living,
Is not where we have been,
It’s looking ever forward,
To another year and ten.
It’s searching all the byways,
Never should you refrain,
For if you want to live your life,
You gotta drive the train.

9.11.11
Posted by Jana Groscost Matthews | Filed under Jana Matthews, Manifesting, New Moon Manifesting, Self Healing, Transformation, Transmutation
Where were you on September 11, 2001? Most days we easily forget where we were and what we were doing on a specific date ten years ago. One exception are events that change us forever.
It was an eerily creepy day as I drove through the vacant streets of Salt Lake City. I thought, “Did I miss a holiday? Traffic is so light.” It seemed to be a normal day. The kids went to school. I was driving to the publisher’s office to proof my first book. But something seemed weird.
When I arrived at the publisher’s office I was told about the tragedy that had struck New York. My heart and prayers immediately went out to the area to help people in this time of crisis and chaos. A few minutes later my mom called to tell me my younger brother had been in tower seven. He heard the first plane hit and ran to a window seeing the second one. In a split second his gut instinct was to get out. He grabbed a colleague paralyzed by fear and walked her down the stairs.
At street level chaos surrounded him. He told me he just kept moving to get away from the area. As he walked down the street with his colleagues he was prompted to take a look back. At that moment the twin towers crumbled from the skyline, just moments after escape.
September 11, 2001 is a day we will always remember; where we were, what we were doing, and who we were with.
As we honor the memory of that day and the many who senselessly suffered and died, keep in mind this incident didn’t cripple us. If anything it did the opposite. Our hearts were opened with compassion and love for those who died, suffered and experienced the fear of that moment. It affected more than just the people in New York it opened the hearts of billions of people around the globe who know tragedy can strike any of us at any moment.
As we look at the symbolism and significance of the date 9.11.11 in numerology we find the number nine resonates with completion and humanitarianism according to Kryon. Doreen Virtue associates the number nine with a sacred mission and divine purpose. Colette Baron-Reid describes the number nine represents compassion, leadership and brotherhood. There were countless heroes that saved many lives, displaying compassion and leadership during chaos.
The master number 11 holds the energy of “illumination”. The numbers in a date such as 9.11.11 work as a system, each having an influence upon the others. So if we take the general meaning of the number nine as compassion, divine purpose, and completion combined with illumination squared with 11.11, then 9.11.11 is a very special day where you may see shifts in your perceptions of your divine purpose, sacred mission, leadership, and humanitarianism!
Ten years ago our hearts were opened on a different level. We see that everyone is vulnerable and have a new respect for life. We have been healing, opening to a new level of compassion.
On 9.11.11 take note of moments where you feel your reactions are different, where you feel different, and where you receive messages from surprising sources. These are all messages from your higher-self guiding you down the path towards your highest perfection! Be open to all messages because 9.11.11 is a portal towards your greatness. Take time to be still in silence and listen to the messages within.
A prayer for you:
“May your heart be open to your angels, guides, ancestors, ascended masters, master teachers, master healers, your Divine Widom, who are assisting you now. Be open to receive and perceive LOVE, VALIDATION, GUIDANCE, and SUPPORT. You are safe and protected when you call upon you Divine Guidance to direct your healing.”
Have a beautiful, reflective and healing day!

Full Moon in Aquarius 2011
Posted by Jana Groscost Matthews | Filed under Full Moon, Inner Alchemy, Jana Matthews, Manifesting, New Moon Manifesting, Self Healing, Transformation, Transmutation
Emotions intensify with the Full Moon in Aquarius occurring on Saturday August 13, 2011 at 2:57pm EDT (11:57am PDT). During the full moon phase our conscious and subconscious minds are seeking balance and resolution.
What emotions or issues are being brought forward to your consciousness? Now is the time to face them. You’re being guided and supported by your Inner Wisdom to face these issues, patterns, and situations head on.
The Moon in dreamy Aquarius is opposite the Sun in heart-felt Leo, and brings opportunities for deep philosophical change. It’s a perfect time to step out of the norm and look at a different realty. This opposition allows us to explore the mysteries of life and question our course. Now is a great time to ask yourself, ‘How do I lead a more purposeful life?” “How do I align myself with it?”
When you’re open to change your Inner Wisdom pulls forward ideas and inspiration to lead you on a purposeful life. It’s a time to shift misperceptions and old patterns and embrace something new.
Take advantage of this week’s Full Moon in Aquarius and clear the old subconscious patterns that control you. Let go of the old and forgive; express gratitude for all you have now, so you easily move forward with love and grace!

Gripping Fear
Posted by Jana Groscost Matthews | Filed under Jana Matthews, Manifesting, Self Healing, Transformation, Transmutation
The swimming pool was a welcome relief from the sweltering summer heat. After a long day at work, my dad and I cooled ourselves in the neighborhood pool. We swam here several times a week, but tonight was different, my dad encouraged me to jump off the high dive. I looked at him in terror.
Over the summer I had mastered jumping and finally diving off the lower board, but this new request was scary! The high dive was SO high. From the pool, the platform looked like it was a million miles away. I could see other kids climbing the ladder to the platform and wanted to join them. But there was that little voice in my head telling me, “It’s too high, it’s too scary, this isn’t safe, you’ve never done something like this before!”
Finally with a lot of coaxing from my dad I reluctantly climbed the ladder. I made it to the platform and froze. The ground was so far away. The platform was moving from the wind and rebounding from other people jumping. My heart raced. Paralyzed with fear, I stood there as my white knuckles gripped the handrail. The kids behind me were encouraging me to go, but I couldn’t move. Trying to find the courage to jump, I let a couple of kids go in front of me. There wasn’t any reason I should do this. It’s scary and I don’t like feeling this way. Finally as tears welled up in my eyes I felt defeated. Fear won. I climbed back down the ladder.
Ah, good, back on solid ground. I’ll just swim for a while and forget I ever tried that. My dad was relentless. Like many parents he used guilt and shame to get me to do something. “Look at those kids up there, they’re doing it, you can too!” I kept resisting. Next came the bribe, I’d get a candy bar if I successfully jumped. Hummm… the pot got sweeter! Mustering up the courage, I climbed the ladder again. Legs shaking, heart racing, knuckles still white, I gripped the handrail and inched toward the end of the board. I stopped in fear. The handrail didn’t extend to the edge of the board. At some point I had to let go of it and walk out onto a bouncy board. My heart wanted to do this, but my hands wouldn’t let go. I edged back to the ladder and safety.
It was getting late and dinner was waiting. Oh good, it’s over, I’m safe!
A couple of days later we were back at the pool and back to my source of fear. But this time my dad encouraged both my younger brother and me to jump. Richard didn’t even hesitate. He climbed the ladder and walked off the end of the board. Rats! He did it! Even though he didn’t say anything, he taunted me with his actions. Wait, didn’t he think about how scary the jump would be? Didn’t he think he might hit the bottom of the pool? Didn’t he think he might die because he was underwater a long time? Pressure mounted for me to be next.
I took a deep breath, saying to myself, “You can do this, Richard just did it! Are you going to let him show you up?” There’s nothing like a little competition to motivate me. I reached the platform. I walked to the end of the handrail. I’ve been here before, but it was going beyond this point that scared me. With my heart racing, I still had to make the trek to the end of the board without the support of the handrail. My shaking legs began bouncing the board. With each step I wanted to retreat to the safety of the ladder, but I kept telling myself, “I’ve got to do this!”
When I reached the end of the board I heard the faint echo’s of my dad and brother’s voice, “Jump.” I’m not sure what happened next. Did I jump? Did I fall? Splash, I hit the water. A moment of terror engulfed me as I swam to the surface. Stunned and shocked I swam towards to side of the pool. Richard and my dad were screaming with excitement. I did it! I jumped off the high dive and survived!
I probably jumped off the high dive another twenty times that day. A few days later I began diving off it, and finally diving off and swimming underwater to the other end of the Junior Olympic sized pool. Even though I didn’t realize it at the time I faced some very big fears that day; fear of the unknown, fear of death, and fear of my little brother beating me!
Remembering moments like this and drawing from them has helped me face other circumstances in my life where fears cropped up. Fears are a defense mechanism set up by the ego. It’s the voice inside saying, “This is different, what will happen if I try it? What if I fail? I don’t want to disappoint myself. I don’t want to disappoint others. I don’t want to feel ashamed for failing. I would be better off playing it safe!”
But living in safety of our past experiences doesn’t help us reach new goals.
Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing expecting different results.”
The ego is the voice inside that wants to keep us safe. But the false perception of safety set up by the ego is based upon our past experiences – both successes and failures. The ego plays upon past failures, experiences, and perceived threats to preserve itself.
In a split second my fear of the unknown, death and falling was overshadowed by my younger brother doing something I was scared to do. I couldn’t let him do that! The voice in my head (the ego) was overpowered by my heart’s desire overcome my fears. Being a little kid at the time I didn’t know what fears were. But I know what they are now. I know how they paralyze my actions if I allow it.
Fear = Resistance
Resistance isn’t about the change it’s about fear of the “unknown.” The unknown is this black hole; we are blind to the possibilities because the ego’s first response is fear. What if I get hurt? What if I fail? What if I disappoint myself, again? What if I disappoint others?
Do you remember a time you when you feared trying something new? Were you able to overcome your fears? After you did it, did you ask yourself, “Why did I wait so long to try this?”
What fears are holding you back from getting what you want? Join us for the upcoming “Living an Empowered Life” 3-week teleseminar held Tuesdays, September 6, 13, 20, 2011 and learn how to overcome your fears so they no longer stop you.
