New Moon in Virgo 2010

The new moon is a time to of rebirth, planting new seeds, developing new actions, germinating new thoughts, and manifesting what you want. We’ve just ended the playful, creative, self-promoting emphasis of the Leo lunar cycle and are now moving into the quieter more introspective energy of Virgo. Virgo’s mission is to help us know ourselves. Its emphasis is on practical aspects, work, patience, and purification; placing your attention of technique, methodology, and the process of transformation.

The new lunar cycle begins on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 6:30am EDT (3:30am PDT). The moon during this cycle will be closer to the earth causing the electromagnetic pull of this moon to be stronger than usual. The moon is responsible for our emotional state and with the closer proximity of the moon to the earth emotions that have been buried will be surfacing. Your world may shake as your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs are coming up creating a space for a new foundation based in truth and love. Be patient and kind with yourself and allow the time you need to look at your stuff and bid it farewell.

Join us for a FREE conference call Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 8pm EDT (5pm PDT) 641.715.3200 access code 867778#. During the live call you’ll receive inspiration for the upcoming new moon, time to share your intentions, and a guided imagery meditation to invoke your subconscious into the mix. Group meditation is a powerful way to amplify your intentions.

Have a beautiful and blessed New Moon! And manifest miracles!

Do Affirmations Really Work?

Countless times I’ve been asked this question or been told, “I say or write affirmations every day, but nothing changes.” The question then becomes, “What are the thoughts and feelings behind your affirmations?”

Our words mean nothing unless we believe them. If you state an affirmation such as “I am thin and healthy,” but your thoughts after that are “I look like the fat slob, look at me! I’ll never be thin.” Then the affirmation has just been negated. Why say them if you don’t believe them?

We only achieve what we believe about ourselves.

A conflict arises because our body can only hold one vibration at a time. When the vibration of “I am thin” or “I am wealthy” is immediately replaced with all the reasons why you’re not, the body responds to what you believe most strongly about yourself. Believing the “lie” would be absurd.

Overcoming the conflict takes practice to STOP the self-talk that negates your affirmations. The purpose of affirmations is to shift your vibration so you’re aligned with what you want. The more consistently you’re holding the vibration of what you want, the greater your ability to attract it; like attracts like. When your emotions and words are aligned with your affirmations, manifesting is easy. You become a magnet for what you want!

Practice your affirmations with a new awareness of your self-talk and emotions and see how your results change.

The Climb

Messages from Spirit come in many forms: movies, books, songs, strangers making a comment. I love the message in the lyrics of Miley Cyrus’s song “The Climb”. A message for all of us that the journey is more important than the destination.

The Climb

I can almost see it
That dream I’m dreaming
But there’s a voice inside my head saying
“You’ll never reach it”

Every step I’m taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna want to make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

The struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I’m not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going

And, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

‘Cause, there’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna want to make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose

Ain’t how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb!

Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It’s all about, it’s all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, yeah!

Questions to Ponder:

Do your dreams get squashed because of the voice in your head?

Do you focus on the journey or only the destination?

Do you lose faith when you hit obstacles?

New Moon in Gemini 2010

The phase of the new moon is an opportunity for new beginnings: starting new projects, setting new goals, and renewing existing goals. Whatever you want to achieve, now is the time to put your energy and intentions into drawing the resources to you.

During this new moon on June 12, 2010 at 7:15am ET you may experience a mental clash between practical thoughts and new ways of living. Holding on tightly to the past way of doing things will only intensify necessary changes. If you find yourself resisting, ask yourself, “Why am I set on doing things this way?” Allow yourself to let go of expectations of how things “should be.”

The potential here is to unlock doors of our own mental rigidity and open up to expansion. Now is the time to pay attention to the messages of taking care of the areas of your life that have been neglected or suppressed. Provide a safe place for your emotions to come up without shame, blame, or guilt, and view them without getting caught in the drama. Express gratitude for the lessons you’ve learned as a result and let them pass by so you’re now free!

If you need help in your journey of consciousness and healing, join the FREE New Moon Manifesting group meditation by registering on this site. You’ll receive emails regarding new blog posts on the New Moon site as well as a reminder email about the upcoming New Moon conference call. The conference call is a great way to understand the energy of the new moon and connect together in a dynamic group meditation.

Have a beautiful and blessed month!

The Zone

Have you ever felt that place where your efforts were effortless? A place where the mind wanders and time seems to disappear. People often call this space The Zone; and it’s available to anyone at anytime. But for many tapping into it can be difficult because of the left brain’s endless chatter, lists, and desire to control, which trips us up and inhibits the right brain from simply flowing.

I’ve experience the zone in many different ways such as long distance running, hiking, biking, driving, and writing. It takes practice to learn to relax the left brain’s desire for control, but once that’s stopped, the right brain take over and everything flows effortlessly.

One way to reach the zone is through meditation. The intention during meditation is to quiet the mind and listen to the creative possibilities that get drowned out by the left brain trying to calculate, analyze and figure out every move. During meditation the brain waves are slowed down to a theta brainwave state, which is the place the brain reaches right before we fall asleep. By learning to consciously access the Theta Zone, we train our brain to reach that state more easily in everything we do.

Some of the ways The Theta Zone can be used include:
~ relieving stress, anxiety, and tension
~ receiving solutions or insight into resolving problems
~ relaxing the body
~ slowing down the heart rate and reducing blood pressure
~ releasing and resolving emotional distress

With all the stresses placed on us as adults, everyone would greatly benefit from daily meditation. But I’ve also learned the benefits from working with younger people. As a mother of two teenage daughters, I’ve taught them to use meditation before ballgames, tests, and other times they feel stressed. As a result they claim to have less testing anxiety, less reactive to situations, and overall feel more peaceful. I’ve even had several of my kids friends ask to join our meditations.

What a great tool to use during the many transitions kids face while growing up! I wish I had a clue about meditation when I was a teenager. But I can offer it today to anyone interested in joining us. We will be holding meditation for the next four Wednesdays, May 19th, 26th, June 2nd, 9th, at 7pm PST (8pm MST, 9pm Central) to help with testing anxiety, sports visualization, improving focus and concentration, relaxation, and emotional distress.

During the next four weeks this FREE meditation service will be available by calling 805.360.1000 access code 403871#. The live call will last about 30-40 minutes. Please let anyone you know who needs a little stress release to join us! What a perfect way to finish up the school year and prepare for finals. And, parents, you too are invited to join us!

You can also register at www.JanaGroscost.com/events and we’ll send you a reminder email a couple of days prior to the next meditation and let you know of other upcoming kids events.

New Moon in Taurus 2010

Our world is constantly in a state of flux. As the earth is shedding old patterns with its devastating storms, earthquakes, and volcanic activity it’s providing a different landscape for us all. As a part of this earth, we too are impacted by natural disasters, emotional turmoil, and financial distress. Within a split second everything can change. Letting go of expectations and being open to all possibilities is the key to any transition.

It’s easy to get caught in patterns; expecting that life will continue on a specified course often determined by us. We often anticipate that if we do steps A, B, and C, that results D and E will manifest. Frustrations set in when the results are not as expected. The lesson of this lunar cycle is letting go of predictions, expectations, and most importantly control and embracing uncertainty.

The earth goes through events that constantly change it. As a part of the earth, we too must shed the old and open to what’s new. The New Moon, which begins May 13, 2010 at 9:04 EST, is a great time to set new goals and intentions for the lunar cycle. It’s a time to recreate yourself and embrace your true self. New Moon Manifesting offers a FREE conference call to provide insight into the new lunar cycle and help you remove fear and resistance from your path. Through the guided meditation, you’ll learn to manage more energy, learn how to shift chaos to order, and adapt more easily to change. Meditation provides you with clarity and insight so you manifest your results.

The FREE New Moon conference call will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 8pm EST. To join us register here where you will receive an email with conference call instructions.

Embrace the changes in your life and be open to the pathways that open for you.

Full Moon in Scorpio 2010

Today’s full moon is full of richness and intensity. Make the most of it by honoring your uniqueness by doing something that feeds your soul. Emotions such as jealousy and financial concerns may surface during this time. If you’re open to it, dive into your underlying doubts and fears that are churning up these emotions. Facing them is the key to setting you free. Mercury in peaceful Taurus joins the Sun and injects moments of peacefulness and clarity, opening channels of creativity.

It’s easy to get caught up in the emotional current. Instead of getting swept away by them again, validate and acknowledge them, then turn them over to the Universe to deal with so you’re no longer burdened by them. Once released, replace with what you want such as:

“I release jealousy, and replace it with compassion.”
“I release resentment, and replace it with understanding.”
“I release insecurity, and replace it with confidence.”

By letting go of lower vibrating emotions, you’ll open yourself up to receive greater good.

Transformation – A Rocky Start

As I step on the scale I have on seen this weight twice in my life – when I was pregnant with my two kids. As a fitness instructor during my 20’s, I thought I would easily maintain my weight throughout my life because I like to exercise and I’ve always led an active life. Now that I’m in my 40’s there is so much more going on physically, emotionally, and mentally. So finding the right combination in balancing these components plays a key role in success.

Exposing my goal in this way makes me feel vulnerable. Will anything change? Will I actually reach it this time? What if I fail? I’ve worked on this for over a year and the results are the same. It would be safer to set the goal, work towards it and then tell my success story after I’ve reached it. But I’ve learned the journey is the most important part of any transformation. So why do I feel this time things will be different? I’m not sure. Perhaps hope? We’ve all been told that accountability is an important part of reaching any goal. Perhaps putting my goal out there in a big way will help me reach it.

Even with my best intentions the process got off to a rocky start. I woke up with a sore throat on Sunday. My workouts for the past three days didn’t happen. Although I’m a bit frustrated, in the past I would have believed that forces were working against me reaching my goal. I could have thought, “Great, I’ve created a blog for this, and I’m doomed from the beginning.” But it gave me some time to think about the process differently.

I know I need to take a different approach than my old thought process of just eating better and exercising more. Einstein says, “Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.” So during my down time I’ve been asking myself, “What needs to be different to make the changes I want?”

Over the years I’ve learned there is one thing I can control – my thoughts and feelings. Do you realize that over 80 percent of our thoughts are unconscious? Yesterday I received a clue towards the solution. I was telling someone about this journey and she mentioned a program that Abraham Hicks offers called “Think and Get Slim.” So I looked at their website and watched a 9 minute video clip about the process, if you’re interested check it out at www.AbrahamHicks.com.

Esther talks about our thoughts and actions being upstream and downstream, and a metaphor of a reservoir being the energy and motivation used to inspire. If you think about it, moving upstream is swimming against the current; resisting the natural flow. And moving downstream is going with the flow. We cannot maintain moving upstream at all times. It is exhausting.

So I was thinking about any resistance I may have towards food or dropping weight and I remember hearing an interview a couple of weeks ago with tennis star Monica Seles. She has a book out talking about her lifelong challenge with her weight. She said, “My toughest opponent has been food.” According to the dictionary an opponent is an adversary. In an adversary relationship with food you’re swimming upstream in resistance. We have to eat! So during my meditations I will remove any thoughts or feelings that food is “bad” and replace it with creating a partnership with food.

Esther also talks about being vibrationally aligned with your goal. If I’m resitant to food or whatever the issue is, I create a vibrational tug-of-war between what I want and the end result. So, as I remove resistance, my energy shifts and the process of releasing weight becomes easier because everything begins to align to support the goal. The results will happen once the energy is balanced.
