Health Tip: Meditation

Meditation isn’t only for Tibetan monks or spiritual gurus. Meditation is something everyone benefits from. We get so caught up in our busy lives and the busy voices in our head, we often forget or neglect to take time for ourselves to relax. Scientific study shows that calming the mind, soothing the emotions, relaxing the body, literally frees the soul. The mind, body, and environment benefit from daily meditation.
There are many benefits to quieting the mind. On a physical level, meditation helps release stress, reduces anxiety, and improves sleep patterns. It deceases to heart-rate and slows blood flow. It decreases muscle tension and headaches. Helps reduce chronic physical ailments, pre-menstrual symptoms, enhances post-operative healing, and enhances the immune system. It also boosts serotonin levels which influences our moods and behavior.
When you have a particular physical issue, as you begin meditation you can focus on energy being released from the area and infusing it with positive loving energy. This process can be done for yourself and others you want to help in their healing process. You can use affirmation such as “My body is healthy and strong,” “I have healed my physical body,” “My immune system is healthy.”
Meditation stimulates creativity and insight into solving problems. By setting the intention prior to meditation on providing new insight into resolving a specific problem, new information or alternative approaches to resolving it will come to light. It helps with the way we approach other people or enhances our approach to our work. You can add affirmations before your during your meditation such as “I easily resolve this problem,” or “I easily work with __________.”
Many people have learned the benefits of quieting the mind when used before a big meeting, sales presentation, interview, or audition. It provides focus and sets the intention of the desired result. Meditation is a powerful and simple way to improve the results in your life. Before an event you can slow your breathing and focus on the result you want by using affirmations such as “I present a powerful meeting,” “I confidently present my product/service and people purchase this from me,” “I perform beautifully,” or “I get the part.”
The focus of meditation is to slow down the breathing and the brain activity. By quieting the mind, closing the eyes, and removing distractions, we reduce stimulation that distracts us from getting the results we really want.
