The nip of Fall is in the air as we enter another lunar cycle with the New Moon in Libra. Libra is concerned with finding balance, especially in regards to relationships. The New Moon occurs on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 8:34 pm EDT (5:34pm PDT).
The New Moon is a time of new beginnings. Consider it a time of planting seeds of your hearts desires. Each one carries with it a unique theme or nature. When we learn to work with the lunar cycles we feel in sync with nature’s rhythms. This New Moon in Libra has the potential to be very dramatic, dynamic and transformational. Because of this some people may feel resistant or agitated by its energy. This new moon is stirring up change in close relationships.
The emphasis of the New Moon in Libra is on relationships, balance, fairness, beauty, and diplomacy. Libra is symbolized by the scales and seeks balance. Since Venus rules Libra there is room for expansion in developing more harmony, deeper love, a sense of cooperation, expressing beauty and practicing diplomacy.
Since autumn is the time of the harvest, take inventory of what has changed within yourself and your relationships over the past year. It’s easy to focus on what is still perceived as missing. Yet, when you look at what has changed and express gratitude for it, progress continues. To get something new, be willing to step out of your comfort zone. Remember insanity is doing the same thing, expecting different results.
With the power planets of Pluto (transformation) and Uranus (change) in this lunar cycle, changes are brewing. This is a rich, fertile cycle, which may yield surprising results as long as you play fair and work diplomatically. Maintain balance and let go of any need for power struggles. You may be surprised at the end result.
When change is desired, we must first change ourselves. Otherwise we get caught in the blame game and discount our part of the equation. With this new moon, where can you forgive more? Judge less? Express your emotions better? When we change our perspective, everything around us begins to change to match the new vibration.
The Libra New Moon rules the 7th House – The House of Partnerships. This includes all types of close relationships such as marriages, partnerships, friendships, and close confidants. Take note of qualities you admire in your partnerships and integrate them into you life.
The next few days leading up to the New Moon may be intense as fears of change emerge. Take time to release frustrations with exercise, meditation, or journaling. You may experience tremendous healing; making room for the new. Speak up for yourself, and express your desires and needs. With the change of the seasons it’s always a good time to clean up and clean out. Reach deep into every nook and cranny from the attic to the basement to release unnecessary clutter. It’s liberating to let go of excess stuff.
