World’s Best Dad!

Happy Father’s Day to a man who always has a smile on his face and in his heart!

He is always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it – giving me a foundation in charity, generocity, compassion and philanthropy.

He is always there to impart his wisdom on whatever he knew, and he knew it all or at least I thought he did – giving me a foundation in teaching others.

He is always talking to people, and made me believe he knew them all – giving me a belief that strangers are only people you haven’t talked with yet.

He is always working hard, even when he plays golf and tennis (your chip shot over the net is cheap!!!) – teaching me to always do me best.

His adventurous spirit taught me to take risks, when most people would play it safe.

He could build anything from the spare parts in his truck or garage – look out McGyver, although I don’t know of anything my Dad blew up, I’ll have to ask him about that one.

Sure, we have our different perspectives and philosophies on life and sometimes butt heads, but overall he’s the World’s Best Dad! He is humble, kind, loving, giving, compassionate, self-less, hard working, intelligent, funny, patient, nurturing, encouraging, athletic, wise… and simply amazing! I often hear from people who know him that “he’s one of a kind!”

The best advice he ever gave me was to keep trying different things until I find something I love. Well I did Dad, and I thank you for the lifetime of GIFTS you’ve given me! How LUCKY was I to be born to you, Dad? I Love You! Happy Father’s Day!

    Sweet post, Jana.

I’m not sure the best advice my dad gave me over the years (he gave me a lot) – but one that is coming to mind right now is from when I was in Jr. High. Some girl was constantly being mean to me at the bus stop/walking to/from school each day. Would be very insulting to me – and I had no idea why. I didn’t even know who she was.

I told my parents about this, and my dad’s answer was – “she’s jealous or intimidated by you. Often people are mean if they feel jealous. Try saying something nice to her – give her a compliment and see what happens.”

So, the next day, as we neared each other at the bus stop I looked for something I could compliment and just said, “Hey – nice boots. (genuine compliment – no sarcasm)”. She looked shocked… and then stammered a thank you.

After that, nothing but smiles and waves.
